Tragic Optimism
140 x 180 cm
Acrylic, oil sticks, pencil, aerosol paint, newspaper on canvas

This work engages with the notion of resilience as a deeply human condition, an internal capacity to endure, to reframe, and to persist in the face of extremity.

Drawing on the philosophical reflections of Viktor Frankl, it approaches survival not as a purely physical act, but as a question of meaning. Within states of rupture and disorientation, the possibility of affirmation remains, a fragile yet decisive orientation toward life.

Rather than narrating specific histories, the work translates this tension into material and atmosphere. It considers how hope can exist as a subtle, almost imperceptible force—embedded within structure, gesture, and surface—persisting even where certainty dissolves.
